The Mitel (formerly known as ShoreTel) phone system includes software called the Mitel Client that can be installed on your computer. You can’t use the client to make or receive phone calls over the computer, but you can use it to remote control your phone. This article covers the basics of using the client to control your phone. The articles on Changing Forwrding Settings and Changing Voicemail Settings with the Mitel Client explain how to use the client to set up call forwarding and control your voicemail.

The first time that you open the client, you’ll need to log in with your CNU ID Number and password. You can check Remember this to automatically log in.
You may also have to enter server information. The server is tp01pv.cnuadmin.cnu.edu
You’ll then be logged in.

When you log in, you’ll be taken to the main client window. You can look up a phone number in the directory by typing their name in the box at the top. When you do, you’ll see their availability.
Clicking on a name will bring up a card with additional information. Click the green phone button to call them. Remember that the call will happen on your phone.
Speed Dial with “Favorites”

To set a person as a favorite, search for them and click the star icon next to their name.
You can then find your favorites under People.
Checking Voicemails
When you have a new voicemail on your phone, it will be indicated on the client.
Clicking on it brings you to the voicemail view.
Click on the voicemail and you’ll bring up options.
You can play the voicemail on your phone (if you click the phone icon on the right) or your computer (by clicking on the speaker icon). You can also reply with a voicemail if the caller was on campus, forward the message to another number, or delete it. To directly call the person back you can click directly on the number.
You can check voicemails you’ve heard by clicking Recent, choosing Voicemails from the dropdown and clicking All at the top.
