Installing Mathematica with CNU Licensing
Access and Installation-CNU-Owned Computers
Users with CNU-owned machine should opt to use Wolfram Cloud whenever possible. You will be brought directly to the web-based version of Mathematica.
If you need the desktop version of Mathematica on a Mac, you can install it using Self Service. You will then need to activate your license following the instructions at the bottom of this article.
Windows users currently must put in a ticket for installation.
Accessing Wolfram Cloud
To access Wolfram Cloud, go to
Wolfram Cloud in your web browser of choice (Firefox or Chrome recommended).
Once there, click on Sign In.
Then, click Single Sign On.
Enter your CNU e-mail address in the box that appears.
You’ll be taken to the CNU sign-in page. Sign in, and you’ll be taken to Wolfram Cloud.
Accessing Wolfram Products-Personal Computer
Go to Access to Wolfram Products . Enter your Christopher Newport University email address and click Continue.
You’ll be brought to a page allowing you to download and install a Wolfram download manager app. Click the link to download the Wolfram app for your operating system.
Upon opening the downloaded package, click “Next” to install the Download Manager. Once the Download Manager is fully installed, click Launch to launch it.
Installing Mathematica-Personal Computer
Upon approval, the Download Manager will launch the installation process for Mathematica. Click ‘Next’ until you see a screen that provides you with the option to install, then click ‘Install’.
Once the installation is complete, check the ‘Launch Wolfram’ box before clicking ‘Finish'.
License Activation-All Machines
After installation, you will need to activate your license to run Mathematica. Launching Wolfram immediately after installation will start this process. You will be prompted to select a web browser to open the Activation webpage. Select the browser of your choosing to launch the page, then click ‘Continue’. Log into the resulting pages with your CNU credentials.
The page will show the Mathematica license made available to you by CNU. Select the license and click ‘Activate’.
You will receive a notice that the license has been activated for your machine. Follow the instructions given to close the web browser and return to the web application. The application will transition into the product license agreement; once you have read the agreement, check ‘I accept the terms of this agreement’ and click ‘OK’.
The desktop application will then launch the Mathematica application.
