Can you install SPSS?
These instructions only cover installing SPSS on your home computer. To install it on a CNU owned computer, you can use the self service portal to make a request.
Getting SPSS
To download SPSS, Follow the link here and download the file in the folder labeled ‘Windows’. If you’re already signed in to CNU Connect, you’ll be taken directly to the download link. If not, you’ll see the Google sign-in page. Sign in with your CNU e-mail and password.
Either way, you’ll then see the list of downloadable files. Select the Windows file and click on the Download button to download the file.
As the SPSS installer is a large file, you may get a warning that Google Drive is unable to scan the file for viruses. Since this is a trusted CNU drive, click “Download anyway” and the file will download.
Installing SPSS
Navigate to where you downloaded the file double-click on the file to run it. Depending on the configuration of your computer, you may be prompted to input administrator credentials to approve the installation. CNU does not manage the administrative permissions of personal computers. If you are using a CNU-owned computer, we recommend the use of the self-service portal to limit the need for administrative permissions.
After administrator credentials have been entered and recognized, the installer will start. Click Next.
You’ll be presented with a license agreement. Accept the agreement and click Next.
Either way, you’ll be asked where to install SPSS. Unless you have a reason to install it somewhere other than the default folder, click Next.
Then, click Install to begin the installation.
The install will start. It will take a few minutes.
When it completes, you’ll be given the option to start the SPSS License Authorization Wizard. Make sure the box is checked and click Finish.
The License Authorization Wizard will start. Click “Launch License Wizard”, and on the following screen choose “Concurrent user license” and click Next.
On the next screen, enter ‘equity.cnu.edu’ and click Next.
You’ll see a message that your license has been applied. Click Finish.
You will then be able to run SPSS without issue.
Install for Mac
Follow this download link and download the file from the folder labeled ‘Mac’ . If you’re already signed into CNU Connect, you’ll immediately see the download link. If not, you’ll see the Google sign-in page. Sign in with your CNU e-mail and password.
Either way, you’ll then see the download link. Click on the Download button to download the file.
As the SPSS installer is a large file, you’ll get a warning that Google Drive is unable to scan the file for viruses. Since this is a trusted CNU drive, click “Download anyway” and the file will download.
Double-click on the file you downloaded.
You may receive a notification that the installer was downloaded from the Internet. Click Open.
The installer will open. Click Continue three times.
You’ll be asked to agree to the license agreement. Click Agree.
If you have multiple hard drives, you may be asked for an installation destination. Otherwise, click Install.
You’ll be asked to use either Touch ID or a password. If you use a password, this should be the password for your computer.
SPSS will then install. Once the installation is complete, it will be available in your Applications folder or Launchpad like any other application.
The licensing portion of this install MUST be run as an administrator to successfully license
The first time you run SPSS, you’ll be prompted for a license. Click “Launch License Wizard”
Choose “Concurrent user license” and click Next.
Enter equity.cnu.edu for the server name and click Next.
