Prospective/Incoming Student Welcome
Welcome to Christopher Newport University! As a prospective or incoming student, we have provided you with an identity within University systems to use during your time with us. It is essential that you secure this identity immediately upon receiving it, in order to ensure the integrity of any information associated with that identity.
To begin, follow the link provided in your welcome email. You will be prompted for your login credentials; these consist of the username (which looks like a CNU e-mail address) and temporary password also provided in your welcome email.
After logging in, you will be prompted to secure your account by setting up another means of verifying your identity. This refers to the process of setting up multi-factor authentication (MFA). Click Next to begin the process; more details about CNU’s MFA tools and how to set them up can be found here.
Once you have set up a minimum of two MFA methods, you will be prompted to change your password to replace the temporary password provided in your welcome email. We have provided details about CNU’s password requirements, as well as guidelines for creating a strong, memorable password, here.
Completing the process will then bring you to the student portal. Your account is now secure.
