Connecting Devices to the "CNU-Res" Wireless Network
Introduction
The "CNU-Res" wireless network is available in all residence halls for connecting devices such as Gaming Consoles, Streaming Media Players, smart TVs, and other IoT devices. To connect these devices to the "CNU-Res" wireless network, please follow the steps below. The "CNU-Res" wireless network will NOT support computers, smartphones, or tablets; please continue to connect those devices to eduroam for internet access.

Step 1 - Navigate to Registration Page - LINK
Username = Enter your CNU email address
Password = CNU Account Password
Make sure the device you are using to register your gaming console is currently connected to eduroam.
Step 2 - Create Device
Students are permitted to register up to FIVE devices only.
Device Name = Enter a name of your choice
Device Type = From the dropdown menu, select the correct device type
MAC Address = Enter your device's WiFi MAC Address
It should look like 00:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E
For assistance in finding the MAC Address of your device, please visit your manufacturer's support website
Click the "Submit" button when finished
Step 3 - Write down and save the "Connection Instructions"
After clicking the submit button, you will be presented with critical information required for connecting to the "CNU-Res" wireless network. You will need this information when connecting your device to the wireless network.
Connect to the wireless network: CNU-Res
Security type = WPA2-Personal
Encryption type = AES
Encryption "Preshared Key" = COPY AND SAVE THIS KEY
Step 4: Connect Your Device
- 1 Gaming Consoles
- 2 SmartTvs
- 3 Streaming Media Players
- 3.1 AppleTV
- 3.2 Roku
- 3.3 Chromecast
- 3.4 Fire TV
Gaming Consoles
Students are allowed to play online games on the CNU network. However, connection to outside servers is not supported by IT Services. Remember! You will need the connection instructions from the All Devices steps above to connect your device to the wireless network "CNU-Res". Ensure you have the Preshared Key as presented in the prior step; this will be utilized as the password coming up.
PlayStation 5
Navigate to Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection
Select the wireless network "CNU-Res" to connect to
When prompted, enter the Pre-Shared Key provided to you when you registered your device

PlayStation 4
Navigate to Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection and selecting Use Wi-Fi
If you select Easy, saved wireless networks and wireless networks that have been found appear
Select the wireless network "CNU-Res" to connect to
When prompted, enter the Pre-Shared Key provided to you when you registered your device

Microsoft XBOX
Press the Xbox button to open the guide
Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings
Select Set up wireless network
Select the wireless network "CNU-Res" from the list of available networks
When prompted, enter the Pre-Shared Key "WiFi Password" provided to you when you registered your device

Nintendo Switch or Switch 2
On the Nintendo Switch console, select Settings from the HOME Menu
Select Internet, and then Internet Settings. The Nintendo Switch will automatically search for nearby Wi-Fi signals
Select the "CNU-Res" network name (SSID) from the list
When prompted, enter the Pre-Shared Key "WiFi Password" provided to you when you registered your device
