McMurran 364 AV Instructions
McMurran 364 is being used to test a potential new classroom AV system. This system has all of the tools that you've come to expect in a standard classroom, as well as a built-in camera and room-wide microphone. It also supports USB-C connections that charge your device as well as connect it to the projector, camera and microphone.
Turning the System On
Like all of the other AV systems on campus, you turn the system on by tapping the touch panel.
When asked “Turn system on,” choose Yes.
It will then open up a menu where you can select what you’d like displayed on the system.
Audio and video will both be supplied from the same source. Available sources are:
Classroom PC
Laptop USB-C: Recommended as it will power and provide camera/microphone to compatible devices
Laptop HDMI: for devices without USB-C
Doc Cam
Blu-Ray/DVD
Once you select a source, it operates as it does in any other classroom.
Volume Controls
To control the volume in the room, tap on Volume on the left side of the touch panel.
A volume slider will appear.
Press the mute button on the right to mute or unmute the sound.
Projector / Screen Controls
Note: you do not need to use these to turn the projector on at the beginning of class, or to turn it off at the end.
To access the projector and screen controls, tap Projector on the left side of the touch panel. The projector/screen settings will appear.
Click Projector On to toggle the power to the projector on or off. It will turn blue if the projector is on.
Click Freeze to have the projector continue to show whatever was on the screen when you tap the button, allowing you to display something and set up for the next thing you want to show. Tap the button again to resume projecting whatever is on the source.
Display Mute displays a blank screen. It does not turn off the projector. Tap again to resume projecting
Raise and lower the screen with the Screen Control arrows.
Currently, screen controls are not functioning. We are working with the vendor to correct this as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Using the Camera
The room now has a built-in camera and microphone. You can use them with classroom computer, or connect to the room system with the USB-C cable to use them with your own device. Once you’ve started your meeting software, the camera and microphone should appear by default. If they don’t, select “HD CAMERA” for the camera, “HD Video” for the speakers, and “Capture Input Terminal (HD Audio) for the microphone.
The camera shows the front of the room by default, and will follow you as long as you remain at the front of the room. It will not show the students.
The microphone will pick up sound anywhere in the room.
Turning the System Off
You must turn the system off unless you physically see the next professor in the room.
When you’re done with your class, shut the system off by tapping the shutdown button.
Choose Yes when asked whether you want to turn the system off.
Troubleshooting
The sound is coming from the classroom computer
Click on the volume icon at the bottom of the screen.
Then click the settings button.
Choose HD Audio.
I can’t raise or lower the screen
Screen controls are currently not working. We’re working with the vendor to correct the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience.
The screen is black and no inputs work
Display mute has been turned on. Tap the Projector button on the left.
Then tap Display Mute.
