Respondus is now offering a Chrome extension that allows students to use a Chromebook to take tests that use Respondus Lockdown Browser and Respondus Monitor. Please note that this is currently in Beta testing, so support from Respondus is limited, and ChromeOS is not a supported operating system by CNU ITS.
The following features are not available for Respondus on ChromeOS. If your test relies on one or more of these, please contact the Library for a loaner laptop.
- Calculator
- Spreadsheet Tool
- Special Characters (Note: you can still type these characters with your keyboard or copy/paste)
Your instructor will also have to enable the Chromebook beta for your exam. The ITS help desk cannot do this, so please contact your instructor to request the ability to use Chromebooks.
Installing Respondus
To install Respondus on your Chromebook, simply click on the installation link here, or on the front page of Scholar.
Click Add To Chrome.
Then click Add Extension and the extension will be installed.
Using Respondus
Using Respondus on a Chromebook is easy. Just navigate to your test like normal and click it. After a brief wait, Respondus will launch and you'll be able to start the test. When you've completed the test, click the X in the top-right corner to exit.
