In Scholar, students are only able to see courses which have been set to “available”. Courses are initially set to “unavailable” so that instructors can prepare course shells before releasing them, and to make it obvious to students which of their courses are not using any of the Blackboard functions. Some instructors may want to make a course “unavailable” at the end of the semester, or if major revisions are being made to the course.

There are two ways to make a course available.  You can use the Qwickly module at the top of your CNU Scholar main page, or use the Customization menu within a course.

Using the Icon at the Top of Your Course

The simplest way to make your course available or unavailable is to use the lock button at the top of your course home page.

If the lock is unlocked (), your course is available.  If it’s locked () your course is unavailable.  Simply click the lock to change your course’s availability state.

Using Qwickly

If you want to make multiple courses available at once, you can use Qwickly. It is located near the bottom of the new navigation menu, under Tools. Select Tools, then Qwickly Tools from the resulting options.

Qwickly Tools

The module will open in a new tab on your browser. Select "Course Availability" from the menu provided.

Course Availability

Your courses will appear as a series of toggles. Select a toggle to switch it from active to inactive or vice versa; an available course will show the toggle in green, while an unavailable course will display it in grey.
