Adding a section

  • Browse to the main site (waypoint for cnu.edu or my for myCNU)
  • Click +Add Content 
  • From the menu, select Section 
  • Name the new section folder using according to naming conventions
  • Click Submit 
  • The new section folder with associated assets has been created

Edit _config  block

The _config  block is where you set things like the section name, header for the section landing page, and any widgets (like navigation menus and learn more blocks) in the left and/or right columns.

  • Click on the _config  block in the section and click Edit 
  • Enter the section name and choose an image block for the header if needed
  • The navigation block is already linked in the left widget column for cnu.edu pages and the right widget column for myCNU pages
  • Add any additional widgets in their respective columns – contact block, learn more, etc.
    • Note: myCNU uses a two-column layout.  Only the right column should have widgets.
  • Click the vertical ellipsis in the top right, enter any comments for what edits were made, and then slick Submit 

Edit index  page

  • Select the index  page in the section and click Edit 
  • Enter metadata for the page
    • Display Name  and Title  fields – this is how the page name will display in the navigation menu, in other link assets, and when searched
    • Description  –  describes the content of the page and is what is pulled by search engines
  • Select a page template from the page  dropdown
    • The CNU template is the default and is used for cnu.edu and myCNU pages
    • Events and Center sites are exceptions and have their own template in the dropdown
  • Select whether the page needs a header image or not
    • Landing pages for main navigation sections (Academics, Life, Who We Are, etc.) will have header images
    • Landing pages for non main navigation sections (Institutional Research, Business Office, Tuition, etc.) do no usually have header images
    • Note: with the exception of Counseling Services, myCNU does not use header images
  • Select the checkboxes for left and/or right sidebar
    • This sets the column layout
    • myCNU uses a two column layout with a right sidebar
    • cnu.edu uses a two or three column layout
  • Add content blocks to the Main Content  section
  • Additional content in the left and right sidebars can be added under the Left  and Right  sections
    • Note: This will override content set in the _config  block of the section and you will need to re-link the whatever blocks had been set in _config  here
  • Click the vertical ellipsis in the top right, enter any comments for what edits were made, and then slick SubmitÂ
