Adding images

All images must be saved for web before uploading to Cascade.

Renaming Images

Before uploading to Cascade, rename the image using the following convention:

Images are named for their content and size

[content]-[size].jpg

where [content] is a simple description of the main content in the image (students, campus, a person's name, etc.)

Sizing

  • 1920x1080: the standard size for most images used on cnu.edu

  • 200x300: faculty/staff headshots

  • 200x200: thumbnail images used in testimonial components

Uploading to Cascade

  • Click +Add Content at the top left

  • Select Image from the list

  • Select Placement Folder and choose the subfolder in _images where the new one should go

  • Enter the Alt Text for the image. Be as descriptive as possible, this is an accessibility requirement.

  • Credit is an optional field and can be left blank

  • Source file location is also optional but nice to have as it lets other site users know where the original image came from and how to find it

  • Click the blue choose to upload an image from your computer (the drag and drop option is finicky and doesn’t always work)

  • Browse to where you have the new image file saved and select it

  • Click open

  • The File Name will auto-populate

  • Click the blue Preview Draft button at the top right

  • Make sure the image looks OK in the draft preview – you can always go back and edit it if something went wrong

  • If everything looks good, click the blue Submit button at the top

  • Enter any comments/changes you made/date you updated the image into the dialogue box and click Submit

  • Select the image file, click Publish at the top right and select all destinations where the image should get published
