Quick Access for Google Meet

A recent change to Google Meet introduced Quick Access. As the meeting organizer, you can use Quick access to decide if participants must ask to join the video meeting. If you turn Quick access on or off in recurring meetings that re-use the same meeting code, the setting will be saved for future meetings. If you turn Quick access on or off in a one-time, nicknamed, or instant meeting, the setting will return to on after the meeting ends.

This means that if you "End the call" during a re-occuring meeting, Quick Access will be turned off for ALL future instances of that event. If you "Just leave the call", then Quick Access will remain on.

When Quick access is off:

  • Participants who dial into the meeting using their phone can automatically join.
  • Any participant can dial out of the meeting.
  • All participants from inside and outside of your organization must ask to join the meeting. This includes people who dial into the meeting by phone.
